Assistance with your swimming pool permit application

Congratulations on choosing Leisure Pools! Before we can start building your dream swimming pool, there are a few administrative steps that need to be taken. We are happy to help you with the permit application process.

Do you need a permit?

In many cases, you can build a swimming pool in Belgium without a permit. Whether you need a permit depends on factors such as:

  • The total area of uncovered structures in your garden (max. 80 m²).
  • The height of the swimming pool (max. 1.5 meters above ground level).
  • The distance to plot boundaries (min. 1 meter) and to your home (max. 30 meters).
  • The location of your plot (no vulnerable area or protected heritage site).
  • Specific municipal regulations or plans (BPA, RUP, rainwater ordinance).

Does your project meet these conditions? If so, you are often exempt from the permit requirement. In other cases, a permit is required.

How do you apply for a permit?

Is a permit required? If so, you will usually need the following documents:

!Mandatory documents

  • Layout plan: where will the pool be located on your property?
  • Construction drawing: technical specifications of the pool (available from Leisure Pools).
  • Three recent photos of the construction site.

iAny additional documents

  • Proof of payment of the municipal file costs (receipt).
  • Description of the planned work and materials used.

All documents must be submitted as separate PDF files. The application is usually submitted digitally via your municipality's environmental desk.
